The Life of Sister The Cat

Sister the Cat is abandoned in the woods to be rescued by a nice lady and placed in the best home ever. She sees life at Mommie's house from a cat's eye view and shares it all here. Sister has a wonderful life for a year, then she goes to rest under the big magnolia tree in the back. She is missed by all and her blog is taken over by her brother, Monkey.

Giving The Blog back to Sister

Mom has my new blog set up. It is www.thronemonkey.blogspot.com

I am the Throne Monkey.

We still miss Sister. We're going to leave this blog here and put a link on my blog so that people can read about my family if they want to.

Mom knows it is hard to lose a pet. Sometimes pets like me and Sister are part of the family.

I'm interviewing cats this weekend to pick one to stay with us. Mom hasn't told the big man yet, and she told me not to tell while she is out of town. I don't know if he is going to be happy. But I will be. I like the idea of having another cat to boss around.

See you on my new blog.

We're Trying to Adjust Around Here

It has not been easy. Mom is still very sad. I have sat in her lap most of thel day today and I don't think I've helped much. The big man is just knocking himself out to be really nice to Mom.

I just felt like doing something today so this morning after breakfast I went down to that punk Jesse's house and whooped him again. He's getting fast these days, I only got in a few bites and scratches before he ran his scrawny self up the tree in the front yard.

I just sat under the tree and licked myself, I was in no hurry. I was going to wait him out. Well, that sissy started meowing until his people came out and ran me off. Can't fight like a real man cat. I told you he was a punk.

We miss Sister. Isn't she pretty? This is where she slept every day. On Mom's chair in the bedroom. That was her special blanket.

Well, I'm taking over the blog. Mom said I could. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it.

Mom talked to her own mom today and it seems a mom cat and 3 baby kitties have been dropped on their doorstep. Mom is going to bring them home and we are going to interview them all. We're only keeping one and we know we need to pick out the one that will fit in here.

I'll be keeping you updated on stuff around here. Right now we do not have a real happy house because Mom is very sad. But I know she'll be OK soon. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve and I'm not scared to use them.

Monkey Reports on the weekend

This has been the worst weekend of my whole life.

Friday Mom kept going to the door and calling Sister. She was getting more worried every time. I went down to that punk Jesse's house and found him. He swore he hadn't seen her, so I just whipped him right there in his own yard.

Mom asked the neighbors, no one had seen Sister. I stayed outside, looking for her. I felt bad because I let her go off the other night. I could've stopped her. I thought she'd be back.

Mom left in the afternoon and went to the store, where she forgot to get cat treats AGAIN. When she got back she was very, very, very sad. Very sad. And she didn't call Sister any more. The big man got home and they left for the evening. I kept looking for Sister, and went back down to punk Jesse's and whooped him one more time to get him to change his story. He didn't.

Saturday morning I came in for breakfast. The big man was more quiet than normal. He patted me on the head and said, buddy, Sister's not coming home. Mom looked very, very, very sad and she said, well, Sister is home. But I didn't see her. I think Mom meant something else, but I'm not sure.

Mom stayed very, very, very sad. She packed away Sister's special blanket on the back of the chair in the bedroom. The big man was being very nice to Mom and I was too. I don't think I've ever seen her so very, very, very sad.

I guess today I understand that Sister is gone and she is not coming back. I don't know what to do with myself, I don't have anyone to play with. I play with Mom more, but she just doesn't play as good or as long as Sister.

I heard her telling one of the people kids that we need to start looking for another kitty. I would like someone to play with but I wish it could be Sister.

One of the people kids asked Mom what she was gonna do about this blog. She said she didn't know. I offered to write stuff for a while. Actually Mom offered me and Sister both to have a blog but I wanted to have mine on Myspace. I hear there's lots of cool stuff over there but Mom said NO! Myspace is no place for a young cat like me. I think she's too overprotective.

So I'm going to write for a little while and see if I like it here. I may get my own blog, I feel sad writing on Sister's. And like Mom, I am very, very, very sad that Sister is gone.

Monkey, the Guest Blogger

Wassup? I offered to do this update since my Sister is being a moody mean cat.

I'm Monkey and I'm writing the update because Sister isn't here. We knew yesterday that Mom was coming home last night, we heard the big man talking about it. And, whenever Mom is coming home, the big man works hard cleaning up the house. When she's not here, we sorta hang in the bachelor pad and don't get all worked up about keeping it spotless, know what I mean? Well, he started all that cleaning yesterday so we knew she'd be home soon.

There's a cat down the street, his name is Jesse. He belongs to the people who send their boy kid down here to cut the grass. Jesse would follow the boy kid down here. I never liked him, he's a punk. We've tangled, I've sent him home many times with his tail tucked between his legs. Well, Sister thinks he's all hot and is always showing off when he gets close. Of course that doesn't happen often, because I keep him run off from down here.

I kept telling Sister to stay away from his his scrawny tail but she doesn't listen. She's been hanging with him. Mom told her to stay away from him. The last time Sister got caught with him, he chased her up Miss Beulah's tree and wouldn't let her down. Mom made the big man get a ladder and climb up there. I kept telling him I wouldn't have done that. She got up there, she could get herself down by herself.

Anyway, Sister hadn't seen Jesse since so yesterday she decided to go down to his house before Mom got home and she ain't come back. Now I've been down there looking for her but I haven't seen hide nor hair of either one. I don't know what's going with her.

But I know Mom is worried. It was dark when she got home from the mountains last night. She was tired and not in a good mood. Seems when she got to her car in the airport parking lot she had a flat tire. I told her about that leaky tire but did she listen? Anyway, she was tired and hungry but she went out looking for Sister. She was calling her and stuff. I was trying to get some attention for myself, but she'd just pat me on the head and keep calling Sister.

She finally gave up and went in. I sat in her lap the rest of the short evening. This morning she's been out calling Sister. No answer. I went back down to Jesse's this morning too but still no sign. I've tried to get Mom's mind off Sister. I've been following her around, attacking her big red house shoes. I've jumped up her back to attack her hair but nothing's working.

Anyway, when Sister gets home, I'm whooping her butt. And if that Jesse comes around again? I'm taking off some body parts, if you know what I mean.

Poor Mommie and Water Monkey

My mommie has called the big man a couple of times when me and Monkey were in the house. She does not feel very well on her trip. She says in the mountains there is not enough oxygen in the air and she gets something called altitude headaches that won't go away. She drinks lots of water and takes aspirin but she told the big man she needed a hammer to fix her head.

Me and Monkey have been playing outside a lot and we are waiting for her to get back home. Mother's day is coming up soon and I have a surprise for Mommie. This will be my first Mother's Day with my mommie.

Another thing that we hear Mommie and the big man talking about is a vacation. We have figured out that Mommie, the big man, the two people kids, Julie and Justin, and Julie's man are going on a big boat somewhere. First they have to ride an airplane to get to the big boat. Me and Monkey would love to go on a boat as long as we don't have to get wet.

Well, I take that back, Monkey likes to get wet. He gets in the big water bowl and in the shower. He plays with the water hose when Mommie waters the flowers. Sometimes Mommie leaves the waterhose on the new little flowerdy tree and Monkey just sits there and watches the water come out. Not me! I don't want to get wet.

But I think on big boats, you don't have to get wet so we could go. I could stay in the room or sit in Mommie's lap at the pool as long as no one splashed us. I bet Monkey would jump in the pool with the people kids! He is crazy like that.

Anyway, we think the vacation is coming up in a few weeks. I don't know who will take care of me and Monkey while the big man goes on vacation with Mommie. The last time he went with her, the little girl from next door did a good job feeding us, giving us water and playing with us. She is a sweet little girl. That will be OK if she takes care of us. I know Mommie will find someone good to watch us because she loves us. I am a lucky kitty.

Mad Kitties

Mommie came home last night! We were so happy to see her. Me and Monkey came in the house and followed her around for a long time. She petted us and played with us. I even sat in her lap while she sat next to the big man. I am not happy with the big man because he yelled at me.

Well, the big man brought Mommie's suitcase in and she unpacked it. She was in a hurry to wash her clothes. When she got the suitcase empty, she did not put it back in the closet where it stays. At first we didn't think anything about that, sometimes Mommie is tired when she gets home and she doesn't unpack everything for a day or two. But this time she unpacked everything but didn't put the suitcase up. Me and Monkey thought that was strange.

This morning I caught a bird and I was playing with it outside. Monkey ran in the house as soon as the big man opened the door. Then Monkey came running out to get me. He was mad. Mommie was packing the big black suitcase! She is leaving again today! And she just got home yesterday night. I couldn't believe it. I ran to the door and meowed until she let me in. I ran back to her room and sure enough, she was packing.

Well, Monkey was very mad and so was I. But he is braver than me so he just got in Mommie's suitcase and refused to get out. He demanded an explanation. He was talking mean, too.

Mommie told us she had to go to Colorado to the mountains to see her boss. Me and Monkey would like to go to the mountains, too! But she never takes us anywhere except to Dr. Smith's and that is NEVER fun.

Me and Monkey are very mad at Mommie right now. She just got home and she is leaving again and will be gone a bunch of days and nights. She promised us that when she gets back from the mountains, she will be at home to play with us for a bunch of days and nights. Even though she was very busy this morning, she took the time to give us a special treat and pet us for a while. She went to her office to work for a few minutes and I sat in her lap and purred. She petted me while she was talking on the phone. I am a lucky kitty.

Trapped Kitty

The big man takes care of us when Mommie is away. He does OK. He plays with Monkey a lot but I stay away from him.

At our house, we have a big house and two little houses. The small building in the back is where the big man keeps tools and stuff. Me and Monkey have hiding places under the small building in the back.

The other little house is where people stay sometimes. Mommie calls it the guest house. When I first came to live at Mommie's house, a lady lived there. She used to live in New Orleans but somebody named Katrina came and messed up her house. She had to drive away very fast and came to stay in our little house. She was a good lady. She really liked kitties so me and Monkey got to go in the little house a lot. She played with us and gave us special treats. We liked going in the little house.

Sometimes the lady would sit in the rocking chair on the porch and talk on the phone. She would let me and Monkey sit in her lap and she would pet us. She took really good care of us when Mommie and the big man were gone. The lady stayed with us for 3 months, and then she moved somewhere else to live and we miss her.

I like the little house, so does Monkey. Well, the other day, the big man went inside the little house so me and Monkey went right in behind him. We were playing and looking around, just like we used to. When the big man went out, Monkey went out too. I wanted to stay in and look around some more. The big man left and shut the door.

I was happy for a while and then I was ready to go out. I meowed and meowed but no one heard me. I kept meowing. I finally got tired of meowing and just waited. I knew the big man or Mommie would come looking for me soon. I was trapped in the little house for 2 days and 2 nights! I had lots of water in the big water bowl, but no food! I was hungry.

I finally realized the big man was not going to find me by hisownself, so I waited in the big front window of the little house until he came home from work. I meowed and jumped and tried to climb the window. He saw me! He came to let me out. When he opened the door, I ran out because I had to go to potty really bad! The big man was yelling at me. Sometimes he is a mean big man!

He called Mommie and told on me. Mommie was worried about me and Monkey said every time she called, she asked the big man if he had found me yet. When Mommie gets home, I'm going to tell her I was a trapped kitty. Now I'm not trapped and I ate a lot of food. I am full and happy and I am a lucky kitty.

Moody Kitty

I'm always a sweet kitty. Most of the time. But sometimes I'm not real sweet because I am mad or hurt or having a bad kitty day. My mommie says I get an attitude sometimes.

I was mad at Mommie on Tuesday because she was leaving. So I went outside and I didn't come in all day. Usually I sit on her lap in her office or lay on the floor by her desk. But this time I didn't. I was having a bad kitty day.

I regretted it very soon because when I was finally a sweet kitty again, it was time for Mommie to leave and we didn't have time to cuddle. Boo hoo.

She is in the place called Florida now. She called the big man last night when me and Monkey were in the house so we got to hear a little about what she's doing. She told the big man she had a problem on the plane. She was reading a book - my mommie loves to read - and it was a very funny, funny book. It was a Sweet Potato Queen book by Jill Conner Brown. Mommie knows better than to read Sweet Potato Queen books in public.

She was reading one sitting at an airport gate a long time ago and started laughing so hard she was crying and she couldn't stop. The nice airport worker came over and asked her if she was OK and she couldn't even answer! You would think she learned her lesson.

Well, Mommie did it again. She was reading a very, very funny part on the plane and started laughing so hard she was crying and she couldn't stop. The lady next to her thought she was crying and started consoling her. Mommie was laughing so hard she couldn't talk or tell the nice lady that she wasn't crying, so she just let the nice lady keep consoling her. She said other people on the plane were staring at her too, thinking she was very upset. Mommie needs to leave those Sweet Potato Queen books alone.

Mommie told the big man she did not like her room. She likes to have a room where she can look out and see the beach and the water. This time her room is only on the second floor so she has a nice view of a sand dune. Now me and Monkey would love to have a sand dune to scratch around in, but Mommie says that's all she can see from her room.

It is going to be a bunch more days and nights before Mommie gets home. The big man is feeding us and he let us come in the house for a long time yesterday. He played with Monkey a lot and with me a little bit. Mommie makes sure our favorite food is here for big man to give us. She asks about us when she calls too. She misses being at home and having a sweet kitty like me to pet. I am a lucky kitty.

The Big Black Suitcase

It is a sad day at my house. Mommie is packing the big black suitcase. Me and Monkey know what that means.

Mommie has many suitcases, some are big and some are little. Some are red, some are black, one is flowerdy. When Mommie packs the red suitcases, we know she is going to be back soon. When she packs the big black suitcase, we know she will be gone for a bunch of days and nights. If she packs the flowerdy suitcase with the big black suitcase we are very, very sad because she will be gone for a long, long time.

Mommie is packing the big black suitcase which means she is going away for a bunch of days and nights. Me and Monkey overheard her and the big man talking last night, so we knew she was going to leave us for a while. She is going to a place far away called Florida. She is going to ride on an airplane to get there. Me and Monkey have never been on an airplane and we would like to go sometime, too. Big man gets to go sometimes, but we always have to stay home. That is not fair.

Mommie's job makes her go away a lot, which is not good for me and Monkey or the big man. We all like Mommie and we like for her to be at home. She likes to be home too, but she still goes away on airplanes.

Mommie and the big man were talking about Florida and Mommie likes to go there. She said it is warm and sunny and she will get to walk on the beach. I would like to be warm and sunny, but I know what a beach is and I don't want to go there. Maybe I could stay in the room.

Sometimes when Mommie gets home from her work trips, she tells funny stories about airplanes and airports. Me and Monkey love to hear Mommie's stories mostly because it means Mommie is at home!

While Mommie is gone, the big man feeds me and Monkey. I am kinda scared of the big man but Monkey is not. Monkey will just jump in his lap and attack his socks. I walk up to him real slow and sometimes he pets me for a little bit. He doesn't let me lay in his lap and purr like Mommie does. I miss Mommie when she is gone. But she always comes back. I hear her car coming down the street and I run to the garage to meet her. I always purr when I see her get out of the car. She picks me up and hugs me and tells me she misses me when she is gone. My mommie loves me and she is glad to see me when she gets home. I am a lucky Kitty.

A Hard Weekend

It was a hard weekend. I wanted to post about it, but I stayed on my favorite sleeping spot, up on the chair in Mommie's bedroom. The people babies could not reach me there. Monkey slept in the middle of Mommie and the big man's bed. He was pretty smart about that. The people babies couldn't reach him when he was in the middle.

I'm going to have to find another safe place. Black Hair Girl can just about climb up on Mommie's chair. If she gets up on the chair, she'll be able to get me. Red Head Boy doesn't climb. Yet.

This weekend was hard. Mommie was worn out. I did hear her tell the people babies to leave me and Monkey alone. She said they could touch us, but they couldn't pinch or pick us up. She told Black Hair Girl to leave my tail alone too. This is the first time Mommie told THEM to leave US alone.

Mommie chased those people babies everywhere! You can't leave them alone for one minute. They open drawers and get stuff out. They throw food in the floor. They fight with each other. They make stinky in their pants. A lot.

Black Hair Girl played in our water bowl and then drank our water. Red Hair Boy played with our food. When we would escape to outside, they stood in the door and Black Hair Girl would scream, "SAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEERRRRR." She does not have an inside voice. Someone needs to tell her that kitties do not like to be screamed at.

Mommie took the people babies outside a couple of times. I was upset because me and Monkey love to sit on the big swing in the yard with Mommie. We can sit there for a long time. Mommie reads a book and me and Monkey purr. Sometimes me and Monkey will play in the yard by the big swing. Well, Mommie took the people babies to the big swing in the yard. That is MY swing! I went out to the big swing and jumped in Mommie's lap, right between the people babies! I didn't care how dangerous it was! That's my place with Mommie, not the people babies'.

Black Hair Girl was trying to kiss me and Red Head Boy was patting me and singing, but I didn't care. I was not moving from my spot on Mommie's lap. Monkey came out and played in the yard. Black Hair Girl wanted off the swing to chase Monkey. One down, one to go. Then, Red Head Boy decided to stand up backwards in the big swing. Then Mommie just had me to pet. Purr, purr.

Mommie put very pretty clothes on the people babies Sunday morning. She said she was taking them to church. She put Black Hair Girl's pretty dress on her first. While she was putting a shirt on Red Head Boy, Black Hair Girl found the big man's coffee cup and poured the coffee on her head. Mommie was mad for a minute, but then she laughed and hugged Black Hair Girl. If me or Monkey did something like that, we'd be outside fast with lots of yelling!

The people kids came over last night and stayed for a long time, but when they left, they took the people babies with them. Mommie and the big man were so tired they just went to bed without spending any time with me and Monkey.

This morning, Mommie is looking for things the people babies hid from her. She can't find her comb, her toothbrush has chocolate on it, there are people baby socks in the bathtub, she found cheerios in her shoes, and she is not sure how the coasters got in the upstairs toilet.

My Mommie is sad because the people babies are gone. She loves those people babies and she tells us she misses them. Well, WE don't! And seeing how tired and worn out Mommie was from chasing them, we don't know why she misses them.

I am glad the people babies are gone. Our house is quiet again and its just me, Monkey, Mommie and the big man. I can sleep on my favorite chair in Mommie's room or I can sleep in Mommie's lap. I am a lucky kitty.
